GYMNASTICS COACHES

All our coaches here at Invictus are dedicated to ensuring all children have a positive and progressive exprience in their sessions.

Kelly Stacey

Founder/Principal/Head Coach

Originally from South Africa, I began my dance training on the Island of St Maarten and moved to Los Angeles to study at The School of the Los Angeles Classical Ballet and West Coast Musical Theatre Co.

I continued my studies in London with The Urdang Academy of Performing Arts, completing a three year Diploma in performing arts. I presented my early work in the UK at numerous dance venues, while performing and taking on the role of dance captain with Southern Approach, (A touring theatrical production). 

 

I appeared as a choreographer in the production “Dansing”, staring Wayne Sleep. I founded Calinda Dance Co, a performing arts school, which offered classes in various different dance styles. Calinda Dance Co ran successfully for five years.

Following a move back to St Maarten, I founded Funk Masters (A dance and gymnastics school), and took up a position of performing arts teacher for Learning Unlimited and the St Maarten Montessori school. 

Returning to the UK in 2010, I joined the British Army, I served 5 ½ years with the RLC as a heavy goods driver. Upon leaving the army, I taught competitive dance at Basingstoke Academy of Dancing, Lead Coach at Daneshill prep school and TeamGym squad coach at Basingstoke Gymnastics Club. I am currently the founder of Invictus Gymnastics Club, delivering gymnastics sessions at various different venues in Basingstoke. I am also a lead coach for Horizon TeamGym Gymnastics Club in Southampton

 

Qualifications: Level 1 General gymnastics, Level 2 Womens Artistic, Level 3 TeamGym. British Gymnastics Club Management Certificate. I hold a current first aid Certificate, Safeguarding and child protection certificate. Enhanced DBS Checked. 3 year Performing Arts Diploma from the Urdang Academy.

Luca Coviello

Assistant Coach

 

Luca began doing gymnastics at the age of 4yrs. Starting out in the development squad and moving on to the artistic squad, where he competed at club level. Luca then discovered Free Running and has continued to train with the 3RUN academy over the years. Luca started his coaching as a young leader and progressed onto taking his L0 coaching qualification at the age of 14. Luca is currently at college studying Physical Education and hopes to join the Navy in the future.

Luca is very enthusiastic about gymnastics and brings a range of knowledge from his time in the sport.

 

Qualifications:

L0 General Gymnastics. Luca is currently completing his L1 General Gymnastics Qualification.

Sophia Coviello

Assistant Coach

 

Sophia has been doing gymnastics since she was just 2yrs old! She started as a pre-schooler and was then selected for the development squad, where she spent two years gaining strong basics. She was then selected for the Aerobics squad and competed at club level. Sofia then moved to study dance, she was again selected for the competition squad. She has now decided to return to gymnastics, where she has shown a passion for coaching.

Sophia is a confident and enthusiastic young lady, who is the first to ask how she can learn to help and support the gymnasts.

 

Qualifications:

Sophia will be taking her first coaching exam March 2023.

ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF

All our Adminstrative staff, at Invictus, are volunteers. These invaluable individuals support not only the childern and the coaches, but all our members.

Sheila Stacey

Book keeper/DBS verifier

Born in South Africa, Sheila’s first employment opportunity was within a Bank, as a teller. Sheila later married and worked alongside her husband, competing all administration duties for Baltimore Air Coil, a refrigeration company. After the completion of their sail boat, Sheila, her husband and three children, spent the next ten years cruising around the world. Upon her arrival in the UK, Sheila worked as a Housing Scheme Manager with Devon and Cornwall Housing Association. Working in Sheltered Accommodation with vulnerable adults for 9 years. Sheila then accepted a 5 year contract to work in the Caribbean, running an electronic sales office and doing their accounts. On her return to the UK, Sheila worked for Raglan Housing Association as a Scheme Manager of 52 properties for vulnerable adults, until she retired in 2015.
