All our coaches here at Invictus are dedicated to ensuring all children have a positive and progressive exprience in their sessions.

Kelly Stacey

Founder/Principal/Head Coach

Originally from South Africa, I began my dance training on the Island of St Maarten and moved to Los Angeles to study at The School of the Los Angeles Classical Ballet and West Coast Musical Theatre Co.

I continued my studies in London with The Urdang Academy of Performing Arts, completing a three year Diploma in performing arts. I presented my early work in the UK at numerous dance venues, while performing and taking on the role of dance captain with Southern Approach, (A touring theatrical production). 

 

I appeared as a choreographer in the production “Dansing”, staring Wayne Sleep. I founded Calinda Dance Co, a performing arts school, which offered classes in various different dance styles. Calinda Dance Co ran successfully for five years.

Following a move back to St Maarten, I founded Funk Masters (A dance and gymnastics school), and took up a position of performing arts teacher for Learning Unlimited and the St Maarten Montessori school. 

Returning to the UK in 2010, I joined the British Army, I served 5 ½ years with the RLC as a heavy goods driver. Upon leaving the army, I taught competitive dance at Basingstoke Academy of Dancing, Lead Coach at Daneshill prep school and TeamGym squad coach at Basingstoke Gymnastics Club. I am currently the founder of Invictus Gymnastics Club, delivering gymnastics sessions at various different venues in Basingstoke. I am also a lead coach for Horizon TeamGym Gymnastics Club in Southampton

 

Qualifications: Level 1 General gymnastics, Level 2 Womens Artistic, Level 3 TeamGym. British Gymnastics Club Management Certificate. I hold a current first aid Certificate, Safeguarding and child protection certificate. Enhanced DBS Checked. 3 year Performing Arts Diploma from the Urdang Academy.

Katie Mays

Senior Lead Coach

Katie begun her journey in gymnastics at the age of 4yrs, progressing on to competitive squads such as TeamGym and Trampolining. Alongside training, Katie completed her first gymnastics coaching qualification at 15. From there she has gained a variety of qualifications over the years. Katie gained her Degree in Physical Education and has since taught at several Basingstoke Schools. Katie has two young children, who keep her very busy. In her free time, Katie captains her netball team and enjoys taking the family to Center Parcs for holidays.

Katie has recently returned to coaching gymnastics, after the birth of her son, and we are thrilled to have her on board.

 

Qualifications:

Qualified Teacher Status – Physical Education (BA Honors sport and leisure management.

L1 Preschool gymnastics; L2 Cheerleading; L2 Trampolining coach; L3 General Gymnastics; Trampolining Club Judge; Safeguarding certificate; Enhanced DBS; Positive Coaching.

 

Luca Coviello

Assistant Coach

 

Luca began doing gymnastics at the age of 4yrs. Starting out in the development squad and moving on to the artistic squad, where he competed at club level. Luca then discovered Free Running and has continued to train with the 3RUN academy over the years. Luca started his coaching as a young leader and progressed onto taking his L0 coaching qualification at the age of 14. Luca is currently at college studying Physical Education and hopes to join the Navy in the future.

Luca is very enthusiastic about gymnastics and brings a range of knowledge from his time in the sport.

 

Qualifications:

L0 General Gymnastics. Luca is currently completing his L1 General Gymnastics Qualification.

Faye Chestnutt

Assistant Coach

 

Faye began her gymnastics career at the age of 4yrs. Starting out in the development squad and moving on to the artistic squad, where she competed at regional level. Faye then moved to the tumbling squad. Faye has now retired from competitive gymnastics, after an impressive 11yrs in the sport. Faye started her coaching as a young leader and progressed onto taking her L0 coaching qualification at the age of 14. Faye is currently at college studying Law and photography. She is aiming to get her dream job of working in the Police Force. Faye has a passion for keeping the community safe and doing what’s right.

Faye is very passionate about gymnastics and brings many years’ experience of her time in the sport.

Sophia Coviello

Young Leader

 

Sophia has been doing gymnastics since she was just 2yrs old! She started as a pre-schooler and was then selected for the development squad, where she spent two years gaining strong basics. She was then selected for the Aerobics squad and competed at club level. Sofia then moved to study dance, she was again selected for the competition squad. She has now decided to return to gymnastics, where she has shown a passion for coaching.

Sophia is a confident and enthusiastic young lady, who is the first to ask how she can learn to help and support the gymnasts.

 

Qualifications:

Sophia will be taking her first coaching exam March 2022.

Erin Chestnutt

Young Leader

 

Erin has been a gymnast for the last 9yrs, starting at just 4yrs old in the development squad. She was then selected for the Artistic squad and has since competed at regional level, becoming Hampshire’s County Champion in 2019. Erin started her GCSE’s last September and has chosen textiles, Business Studies, Geography and French. Erin’s would like to design and make clothes in her future career.  

Erin has just started her coaching path and is one of our very promising young leaders. We can’t wait to see her blossom into a confident and inspiring coach!

 

Qualifications:

Erin will be taking her first coaching exam March 2022.

Izzy Daniels

Young Leader

 

Izzy began her journey as a dancer, at the age of 7. She studied Ballet, Tap, Modern and Acro. Izzy also studies Theatre Arts for two years and while she really enjoyed this artistic platform, she quickly realised that she was very passionate about Acro and wanted to continue this within gymnastics. Izzy will be moving to yr11, studying for her GCSE’s.

Izzy likes to challenge herself and learn new skills. She is currently learning lots of new skills in coaching and doing a great job. Izzy is developing into a kind and knowledgeable coach.

 

Qualifications:

Izzy will be taking her first coaching exam March 2022.

Lisa Souter

Guest Coach - High Performance

 

Lisa represented the UK in Artistic gymnastics as a teenager, began coaching Artistic at the age of 14yrs, has coached multiple TeamGym teams to Regional and British finals since 1997. She was Secretary on the GB TeamGym Technical Panel 2000-2002 and in 2002 was Head of Delegation for GB at the 4th European TeamGym Championships in Chalons-de-Champagne, France. She coached Infinity, who became GB TeamGym Senior Mixed Team Champions 2012 and then went on and placed 6th at the 9th European TeamGym Championships 2012 in Arhus, Denmark. As a TeamGym Brevet Judge she has judged competitions in Europe for many years, including the 10th European TeamGym Championships 2014 in Iceland and various Swedish Championships since 2012. 

Alongside her coaching role Lisa has worked in the Military, the Construction Industry, Information Technology Sector, Health & Safety Training Industry & the Early Years Child Development Sector. She is very grounded & has been known to wear many hats. 

Lisa is an energetic and enthusiastic coach who loves to inspire others.

ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF

All our Adminstrative staff, at Invictus, are volunteers. These invaluable individuals support not only the childern and the coaches, but all our members.

Sheila Stacey

Book keeper/DBS verifier

Born in South Africa, Sheila’s first employment opportunity was within a Bank, as a teller. Sheila later married and worked alongside her husband, competing all administration duties for Baltimore Air Coil, a refrigeration company. After the completion of their sail boat, Sheila, her husband and three children, spent the next ten years cruising around the world. Upon her arrival in the UK, Sheila worked as a Housing Scheme Manager with Devon and Cornwall Housing Association. Working in Sheltered Accommodation with vulnerable adults for 9 years. Sheila then accepted a 5 year contract to work in the Caribbean, running an electronic sales office and doing their accounts. On her return to the UK, Sheila worked for Raglan Housing Association as a Scheme Manager of 52 properties for vulnerable adults, until she retired in 2015.

Annecy Daae

Welfare Officer

 

After studying Horse Management at Sparsholt, Anna started her career as a PA working for a London based construction company, before changing direction and working with children once her daughter was born. Anna currently works as a childminder, a job that she absolutely loves. 

 

Having enjoyed studying psychology whilst working, Anna has recently started her training to become a counselor, along with a listening volunteer for the Samaritans, a role that she feels very privileged to start.

Anna is very kind and compassionate dividual . She has a wonderful ability to keep calm under difficult circumstances. We are very fortunate to have her on our team!
